Janie M. Grant, age 73 of Defiance, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Monday morning, October 24, 2022 at CHP Defiance Area Inpatient Hospice Center. She was born on January 2, 1949 to the late Leon and Vera (Smith) Gallant in Defiance, Ohio. On October 5, 1968 she married Ronald Grant, who survives. Janie was a member of VFW #3360, AmVets #1991 and Moose Lodge #2094. She enjoyed camping, bowling, and having fun with her family and friends. Spending time with her family was her greatest joy. Janie was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother "maw-maw". Janie will be sadly missed by her loving husband Ronnie Grant of Defiance, her son, Brian (Dawn) Grant of Defiance, her daughter, Dianna (Scott) Westrick of Cecil, OH, her grandchildren, Ryan Yoder of Toledo, OH, Matthew (Rachel) Yoder of Osseo, MI,  Austin (Rae Meyer) Westrick of Defiance, Audrey (Andrew) Sifuentes of Defiance, and Sarah (Dalton) Coker of Colorado, and her great-grandchildren; Brantlee, Ariel, Jacob, Oliver, Wilbur, Bryson, Myles, Luna, Ella, Rory and Ezekiel. She also leaves behind her siblings; Jean Johnson, Shirley Deitrick, Gary Gallant, all of Defiance, and her brother, Jeff (Helen) Gallant of Florida, and several nieces and nephews that will miss her dearly. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Tommy Gallant, sister-in-law, Shari Gallant, nephew, Steven Johnson, and her dog "Ranger". Visitation will be held from 1:00 to 3:00 pm on Friday, October 28, 2022 at Schaffer Funeral Home in Defiance. A funeral service will follow at 3:00 pm at the funeral home, with Celebrant Deb Miller officiating. Burial will take place at Evansport Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the family.
