Janice L. Mansfield, 79, of Defiance, peacefully passed away with her family by her side on Monday, September 25, 2017 at CHP Defiance Area Inpatient Hospice Center.

She was born on October 26, 1937 to Harold and Hazel (Schmidt) Yeager in Defiance. On June 15, 1957 she married Gerald Mansfield, who resides in Defiance. Janice enjoyed playing cards, and baking, especially cookies. She loved her family and will be greatly missed by so many that loved her.

Janice is survived by her loving spouse of  60 years, Gerald Mansfield of Defiance, and her children;  Dawn Hoellrich of Defiance, Denise (John) Dameron of Sterling Heights, MI, Jerry (Kristi) Mansfield of Defiance, Darlene Mansfield of Rochester, IN, Diana (Bob) Fett of Defiance, Shawn (Amanda) Mansfield of Eldersburg, MD, and Deb (Ronald) Leatherman of Defiance, 17 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, her siblings: Harold (Cathy) Yeager, Jr. of Defiance, John Yeager of Defiance, Jack (Cathie) Yeager of Florida, Jim (Vonnie) Yeager of Defiance, and Joyce Erman of Delta.

She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Ralph, Dick, Don, Gale, and Gary Yeager, and sister, Norma Jacob.

Visitation will be held from 2:00 to 8:00 pm on Thursday, September 28, 2017 at Schaffer Funeral Home in Defiance. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, September 29, 2017 at Schaffer Funeral Home, with Rev. David Brobston officiating. Burial will follow the service at Mansfield Cemetery.
