Obituary

Janice K Blanchard, 77, of Defiance, passed away on  Monday, February 24, 2014 at the CHP Defiance Area In-Patient Hospice Center.

She was born on May 14, 1936 to John and Luella (Wolf) Blanchard in Pleasant Bend, OH.

Janice graduated from Holgate High School in 1955.  She was a member of Bethel Christian Church, Arthur, OH.   Janice was an in-home Nanny for various families for 30 years, (in one case working with 2 generations of the same family).  Her gift in life was caring for children.  She was a Sunday School Teacher at Ayersville  United Methodist Church and in its choir. She was a member of the Henry County All-County Choir and loved singing in choirs. She had a poem published in Young America Sings.  Janice enjoyed reading, playing cards, her cats, and traveling.

Janice is survived by her sister, Karen Blanchard of Defiance, 2 nephews, 2 nieces, 9 great nieces and nephews and 10 great great nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, brother, William Earl Blanchard and a sister, Lael Joan Davenport.

Visitation will be held Friday, February 28, 2014 from 2:00 pm - 8:00 pm at Schaffer Funeral Home & Saturday, March 01, 2014 from 10:00 am - 11:00 am at Bethel Christian Church.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 1, 2014, at Bethel Christian Church, Arthur, OH, with Pastor Chris Baker officiating.

Memorials are suggested to the CHP Defiance Area In-Patient Hospice Center or to the Bethel Christian Church Bldg Fund.
