Janet Lasanen Janet S. Lasanen, 73, of Defiance, went home to be with Jesus as her grandchildren sang "This Little Light of Mine" at her bedside on Sunday, April 3rd, 2016 at CHP Defiance Area Inpatient Hospice Center. She was born in Detroit, MI on January 18, 1943. She was the daughter of the late Edward and Mildred (Vitas) Brewer. On June 19, 1970, she married Dennis F. Lasanen who survives. She was a piano teacher in Saginaw, MI and Defiance,OH for about 30 years. Janet had been an elementary school teacher in Livonia, MI for five years and one year in Bridgeport, MI. She attended First Baptist Church in Defiance and was a Sunday School teacher, AWANA leader, church pianist, a member of the choir as well as served on Christian Education and Music Committees. She also enjoyed leading Bible studies at Hearth and Home Assisted Living in Van Wert. She will be missed by her husband Dennis, daughters: Julie (Mark) Schumm of Van Wert, Deborah "Debbie" (Ryan) Clark of Clyde, OH son: Jeffrey Lasanen of Defiance sisters: Joan Brewer, Judi Zuieback She is also survived by 6 grandchildren: Lauren Schumm, Lindsey Schumm, Jacob Schumm, Justin Clark, Andrew Clark and Jayden Clark. Visitation is Thursday 2-4 & 6-8 and Friday 10-11 prior to the service at Lawson-Roessner Funeral Home 1753 S. Clinton St. Defiance, OH. Funeral service will be held at the Lawson-Roessner Funeral Home at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, April 8th with Pastor Clark Williman officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery.
