James B. Simmons
James B. Simmons, 76, of Defiance, passed away Tuesday, October 18th, 2011 at CHP Defiance Area Inpatient Hospice Center.
He was born in Bryan, Ohio on January 24, 1935, he was the son of the late Fred and Helen (Wirick) Simmons.
On Nov. 28, 1969 he married Loretta "Toddy" Howe, who survives.
Jim worked at Johns Manville as a machine operator for 47 years.
He served in the U.S. Army and was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church.
He is survived by his wife Loretta "Toddy" Simmons,
a daughter: Sherrie (Bill) Shock of Defiance.
a son: Kent (Gina) Simmons of Madison, Alabama,
a brother: Fred "Sonny" (Barb) Simmons of Defiance
3 grandchildren, and 4 great grandchildren.
Preceded in death by two sisters; Loretta Florence and Sandy Smith, a brother Daniel Simmons and his parents.
Service at Lawson-Roessner Funeral Home, at 2:00 on Monday, October 24th, with Rev. Bill Mesaeh officiating.
Friends are invited to call Sunday 4-9 and Monday 1-2 at Lawson-Roessner Funeral Home.
Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery where VFW Post # 3360 will conduct honorary military graveside rites.
Suggested memorials are to the CHP Defiance Area Inpatient Hospice Center.
