James A. Romes James A. Romes, 78, of rural Sherwood, passed away Friday, November 4th, 2011 at his home. Jim was born in New Bavaria, on August 13, 1933, he was the son of the late Leo and Dolores (Bauer) Romes. He was a lifetime member of St. Isidore Catholic Church at Marysdale and a member of the Holy Name Society. He worked as a pattern maker at G.M. Central Foundry for 25 years, retiring in 2000. Jim served in the U.S. Navy from 1952 to 1956, in the Korean War. He was a life member of Defiance AM VETS Post 1991, a member of the Ney American Legion for 52 years, a member of the Knights of Columbus, U.A.W. Retirees, the Moose and the Foresters. Jim married Elizabeth "Betty" Kunesh on Oct. 25, 1958 and she survives. Also surviving are two sons: Jeff (Mirna) Romes of Bryan and Dennis (Sheryl) Romes of Cecil, a sister: Mary (Fred) Wheeler of Ney, brothers Robert Romes of Ladylake, Florida and Greg (Barb) Romes of Ft. Wayne. He is also survived by 9 grandchildren; Andrea Rodriguez, Amanda Romes, Alanna Romes, Alex Romes,Carrie (Stephen) Coressel, Craig Romes, Kyle Adkins, Sean Romes and Kruz Harrington, 6 great grandchildren; Lilly and Hadi Coressel, Clowey Harrington, Kaitlin, Valerie and Kyle Adkins Jr. Preceded in death by a sister Marjorie Bloom A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Isidore Catholic Church - Marysdale, at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, November 8th, with Father Robert Kill officiating. Visitation will be Monday 2-4 and 6-8 at Lawson-Roessner Funeral Home 1753 S. Clinton St. Defiance, with a rosary service at 7:30 Monday. Visitation will also be Tuesday 9-10 at the church. Burial will be in the church cemetery where the Ney Legion will conduct honorary military rites. Suggested memorials are to the donor's choice.
