Jim "Jimmy" Deitrick
Jim "Jimmy" Deitrick, 54 of Defiance, passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 15, 2016 at St. Luke's Hospital.
He was born on July 21, 1961 to Albert "Bunch" and Helen "Sis" (Woodward" Deitrick.
Jim is survived by his sister Jane Druhot and her fiancé Roger Shawley, two nephews Benjamin and Ryan Druhot, his great niece Lilly, who was his favorite little princess, and his aunt Mary Lee York of Venice, Florida.
Jim graduated from Good Samaritan School where he first played basketball. That is where his love of sports started. Jim's greatest joy in life was attending sporting events. If anyone has attended a sporting event in the last 40 years if you didn't know Jim personally you probably knew who he was. He was Toledo Mud Hens #1 fan for 35 years, where he was a season ticket holder with his mom and grandma, They followed the team across the country for many of their play off games. In 2006 he was presented an honorary letterman award by the Defiance College Alumni Varsity D where he had been a ball boy for many years for the men's and women's basketball teams. He never missed listening to the Detroit Tigers games.
Jim is preceded in death by his parents Bunch and Sis Deitrick, grandparents Bill and Nora Deitrick and Bob and Kate Woodward.
Jim will be especially missed by his care takers at Anne Grady but especially Gail Fisher who had a very special place in his heart and Neil Neukam of the Toledo Mud Hens.
Although we have lost a very special soul when the gates of heaven open for his eternal life no one will have a bigger smile or be happier than Jim when he is reunited with his Mom once again.
