James H. Gerschutz James Harold (Ray) Gerschutz, 39, of Defiance, Ohio died at 4:03 a.m. Monday, July 11, 2016 at Defiance Regional Hospital. He was born November 6, 1976 in Portsmouth, Ohio to Nancy (Cline) Ray Gerschutz and his father James H. Ray Sr. He also survived by his adopted father Eugene S. Gerschutz of Oakwood, Ohio. He is survived by his parents Nancy and Eugene Gerschutz, 3 brothers: David (Vicki) of Cecil, James J. (Niki) of Grand Rapids, OH. Mark (Jennifer) of Defiance. 5 sisters: Victoria (David) Wilhelm of Paulding, Tina (Michael) Myers of Defiance, Paula (Todd) Vogel and Paulette (Timothy) Oser both of Waterville, Oh, Cindy Theigs of Gurnes, Illinois. He was preceded in death by his natural father and grandparents. He graduated from Tinora High School in 1996. He was in the Junior Achievement program, Boy Scouts, Youth Ministry at First Church of God, a Senior Cadet for the Civil Air Patrol under Richard Neuwirth. Jim was an avid Dallas Cowboys fan. Services will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday, July 14th at the First Church of God 561 Carter Rd. Defiance. Visitation will be 4-8 Wednesday in the Lawson-Roessner Funeral Home, 1753 S. Clinton St. Defiance. Visitation will also be 10 - 11 a.m. an hour prior to services Thursday at the church. Burial will be in Portsmouth, Ohio. Suggested memorials are to the Mission Youth of First Church of God.
