James A. Ellis, 72, of Defiance, passed away on Tuesday, March 12, 2024 at Brookview Healthcare Center in Defiance, Ohio. He was born on September 1,1951 to Arthur and Mabel (Miller) Ellis in Kendallville, Indiana. He was a graduate of DeKalb High School and served his country during the Vietnam War in the US Air Force.  James worked for Fleetwood Manufactured Homes in Edgerton, Ohio.  Jim enjoyed working on cars and considered himself a general member of the community. James is survived by his sons, Ben (Rachel) Ellis of Sylvania, Ohio and David Ellis of Marydel, Delaware.  He also leaves behind his siblings, Donna Koehlinger, Dianna Deetz, Brian Ellis, Jeannie Bender, Sharon Ellis, and Beverly Lankford, along with many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Robert Ellis.
