Obituary

James D. "Jimi" Monroe, 51, of Oakwood, passed away on Wednesday, September  7, 2016 at Parkview Regional Medical Center in Ft. Wayne, Indiana.

He was born on November 28, 1964 to James Monroe and Dorothy (Rhoden) Monroe-Depew in Paulding, Ohio.

Jimi worked for Trufast in Edgerton for several years. He was a member of Defiance Eagles Aerie #372. Jimi was an avid fan of the Green Bay Packers, Cincinnati Reds, and OSU Buckeyes. He enjoyed heavy metal music, country music, and Mustangs.  His life evolved around his son.

Jimi will be sadly missed by his son, Jesse James Monroe, brother, Martin "Joe" Monroe, sisters, Sandra Monroe, Katherine Monroe-Lechuga, and Kellie Depew, all of Defiance, Robin (Dave Schroeder) Begley of Paulding, Ohio, and many nieces, nephews, and good friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, son, Damian Mitchell Bernath, sister, Debra Monroe, and his grandparents.

Visitation will be held from 2:00 to 8:00 pm on Tuesday, September 13, 2016 at Schaffer Funeral Home in Defiance. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, September 14, 2016 at the funeral home, with Rev. Wanda Lockard officiating.
