James R. "Jimmy" Black, Sr., 56, of Ft Wayne, passed away on Wednesday, June 12, 2019 at the St Joseph Hospital in Fort Wayne, Indiana. He was born on December 9, 1962 to Michael and Mabel (Baker) Black in Defiance. Jimmy was a 1984 graduate of Fairview High School.  On August 3, 1991 he married Kathie Lockhart who survives in Mark Center, Ohio. In addition to his wife, Jimmy is survived by his son, James, Jr. of Mark Center, Ohio and daughter, Kathryn Black of Ft Wayne, Indiana.  He will also be dearly missed by his four grandchildren, Amaziah, Azariah, Armoni, and Adaliah.  Other survivors include his two brothers, Mike Black of Defiance and Wayne (Mary) Black of McClure, Ohio.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Jimmy was a Detroit Lion's fan.  He enjoyed playing pool, fishing and watching sports.  His favorite pastime was time spent with his grandkids. Visitation for Jimmy will be held Saturday, June 15, 2019, 11:00 am to 1:00 pm at Schaffer Funeral Home, Inc., Defiance, Ohio. A funeral service will follow at 1:00 pm officiated by Pastor Vincent Kroterfield.  Burial will take place at  Riverview Memory Gardens. Memorials are suggested to the Diabetes Foundation.
