Jack D. Chiow, 76, of Defiance, passed away on Wednesday, September 16, 2015 at Twin Rivers Care and Rehabilitation Center in Defiance. His nurses and staff are angels.
He was born on July 15, 1939 to James and Bernice (Karch) Chiow in Findlay, Ohio. On July 11, 1971 he married Brenda (Lloyd) Chiow, who proceeded him in death on July 27, 2010. Jack was a member of Poplar Ridge Church of the Bretheren. He was a world class mechanic who retired from ConAgra Foods in Archbold, Ohio in 2002. Those who knew him, Jack was one of the hardest workers they had ever met. He loved dogs, fast machines, and old time rock and roll, and he could fix anything. He was strong and proud, and he struggled everyday to give his family a better life. Though it was hard for him to show it, he loved Brenda and each of his kids and grandkids with all his heart.
Jack is survived by his sons, Jeffery (Summer) Chiow of Alexandria, Virginia, James Chiow of Muncie, Indiana, Jack Chiow of Tiffin, Ohio, David Chiow of Ft. Wayne, Indiana, and Johnny Chiow of Dayton, Ohio, daughters, Brenda "Buffi" Grapengeter of Defiance, and Anita Shampton of Kettering, Ohio, 15 Grandchildren, 1 Great-grandchild, and brother, Robert Chiow of Findlay, Ohio.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Bernice Chiow, wife, Brenda Chiow, brother, Charles Chiow, and son-in-law, Thad Grapengeter.
Visitation will be held from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Monday, September 21, 2015 at Schaffer Funeral Home, Defiance. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am on Tuesday, September 22, 2015 at the funeral home, with Pastor Benjamin Polzin officiating. Burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery.
