Isabell I. Toland, 89, of Defiance, passed away on Wednesday, December  30,  2015 at Defiance Regional Medical Center. She was born on March 21, 1926 to Robert and Annie (Justice) Spriggs in Scioto County, Ohio. On October 10, 1945 she married Charles W. Toland, who preceded her in death on January 13, 1993. Isabell attended church at Second Baptist Church in Defiance. She was a member of  Eastern Star in Continental, Ohio. She was an avid bowler, and enjoyed knitting. Isabell  will be sadly missed by her family, Grandchildren: Lisa (Matt) Bachman of Morenci, Michigan, Gwen Grimsley of Bryan, Robert Grimsley of Edgerton, Dawn Kuhlman of Defiance, Thomas (Mitzi) Toland of Defiance, 6 Great-grandchildren, 1 Great-great-grandchild, and son-in-law, James Grimsley. She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Anna Spriggs, husband, Charles Toland, son, Charles Toland, Jr., daughter, Ruth Ann Grimsley, and brother, William Benard. Visitation will be held from 2:00 to 6:00 pm on Sunday, January 3, 2016 at Schaffer Funeral Home, Defiance. Funeral services will be held  at 11:00 am on Monday, January 4, 2016 at the funeral home, with Rev. Max Begley officiating.  Burial will  follow at Riverview Memory Gardens.
