Nigel and Maya Hogan welcomed their third child, a baby boy, Isaac Forbes Hogan on Monday, May 16th at 9:25pm. They were able to spend 6 precious days with Isaac before God called him home on Sunday, May 22 at 7:48pm.  He came into this world 7 weeks early, weighing only 2lbs 11oz and measuring 14 inches long. Not only was he born prematurely, but Isaac was also born with a rare medical condition.  Even though babies born with this condition generally don't have a long life expectancy, Isaac was able to breathe on his own and spend 6 wonderful days with his loving family.

Isaac's life is such a mixture of joy and sorrow, celebration and sadness. There is the joy of new life but the sorrow of loss.  Isaac's name means, "one who laughs".   His first laugh was undoubtedly in the presence of His Heavenly Father.  Though it's difficult to comprehend, just as the moon is always round even when we don't see it, God is always good even when we don't understand.  Isaac's life is a testament of the precious gift of life regardless of physical struggle.

A Memorial Service for Isaac will be held at 1:00 pm on Friday, May 27, 2022 at Second Baptist Church in Defiance. Schaffer Funeral Home was honored to assist the family with arrangements.
