Irvin H. Roehrs, 99, of Defiance, passed away on Tuesday, December 27, 2016 at Glenn Park of Defiance.

He was born on July 4, 1917 to John and Sophia (Bostelman) Roehrs in Defiance. On December 7, 1941  he married Luella (Gerding) Roehrs, who preceded him in death on December 15, 2000. In 2002 Irvin married Maxine (Anderson) Roehrs, who passed away in 2012.

Irvin was an active member of St. John Lutheran Church in Defiance, and was a Trustee. He was a life-long farmer, and was the third generation owner of the farm he was born on. Irvin was the founder of  Roehrs Insurance Company in Defiance later known as Roehrs-McMillen Insurance. He was on the Board of Directors of German Mutual Insurance Company.

Irvin will be greatly missed by his sons, William (Joyce) Roehrs of Portage, Ohio, and Michael (Joanne) Roehrs of Bowling Green, Ohio, daughters, Judith (Dr. Richard) Kunnes of Dublin, Ohio, and Nanette Roehrs Wilson of Minneapolis, Minnesota, 4 grandchildren, and 4 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Luella F. Roehrs, wife, Maxine Roehrs, brother, Edgar Roehrs, sisters, Elnora Thieroff and Mildred Schatz.

Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 7:00 pm on Friday, December 30, 2016 at Schaffer Funeral Home in Defiance. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, December 31, 2016 at Schaffer Funeral Home, with Rev. Donald L. Luhring officiating. Burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery.
