Irene Perez, age 78 of Defiance, peacefully passed away on Thursday morning, October 28, 2021 at SKLD Healthcare Center in Defiance, Ohio. She was born on April 5, 1943 to Jose and Francisca (Valverde) Perez in San Antonio, TX. Irene was a faithful member of St. Mary Catholic Church. She was a real people person and had many good friends. Irene is survived by her niece, Gloria Vasquez, and great-niece, Linda Guardado, both of Leipsic, Ohio, and several nieces and nephews, and great-nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Gregorio, four brothers; Rudy, Juan, Raul and Roy Perez, and four sisters; Vine Sanchez, Rachel Ruiz, Lupe Attice, and Juanita Sanchez. Visitation will be held on Monday, November 1, 2021 from 9:00 to 10:45 am at Schaffer Funeral Home in Defiance. Due to CDC guidelines, if you are not fully vaccinates, a mask is required to enter the funeral home. A Mass of Christian burial will follow at 11:00 am at St. Mary Catholic Church, with Fr.
