Obituary

Iona "Jean"  Ankney, 74, of Defiance, passed away on  Thursday, January 9, 2014 at Parkview Regional Hospital, Ft.Wayne, IN.

She was born on June 10, 1939 to Harry and Bertha (Lintermoot) Wolford in Paulding.  On December 5, 1958 she married Garrison Ankney and he passed away in 2008.

She graduated in 1957 from Paulding High School where she was a lively trouble maker.  Jean was a cashier for Chief Super Market 18 years. After retirement from Chief she went on to work at Rite Aid.  She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and her great grandchildren, site seeing, gambling and going on trips.

She is survived by her daughter, Laurie (Thomas) Sinn of Latty, OH, grandchildren, Stefanie (Matthew) Sinn-Hollar of Ankara, Turkey, Steven (Alicia) Sinn of Latty, OH, and her great-grandchildren, Savannah & Stella Sinn, sister in law, Violent Grant of Texas, and Brother in law, Charles "Jim" (Marilyn) Ankney, Defiance, OH, and many nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by parents, sister, Ilo & brother Melvin.

Visitation will be held from 11:00 am - 1:00 pm on Thursday, January 30, 2014 at Schaffer Funeral Home, Defiance, with the funeral service being held on January 30, 2014 at 1:00 pm with Deacon Jeff Mayer officiating.  Burial will follow in Live Oak Cemetery, Paulding Co.
