Ilene C. Hohenberger, 94, of Defiance, passed away on Wednesday, December 3, 2025 at Glenn Park of Defiance. She was born on May 28, 1931 to Isidore "Jim" and Catherine Myria (Wood) Mack in Defiance. She was a Defiance High School graduate, Class of 49. On November 4, 1950 she married Paul Darwood Hohenberger who preceded her on May 5, 2012.

Ilene worked as an assistant treasurer for First Federal Bank retiring in 1996. She was a life member of St John Catholic Church and a Eucharistic Minister, as well as a cashier for the K of C Fish Fries on Fridays. Ilene was a member of the VFW Pos t#3360 Auxiliary.

She was an avid card player. In 1975, she and Dar began traveling the world. They enjoyed time with family at the lake cottage.

Ilene is survived by her children, Daniel (Tina) Hohenberger of Defiance, Michael (Mary) Hohenberger of Perrysburg, and Jane (Thomas) Allen of Defiance, nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her daughter-in-law, Diane Hohenberger of Johnstown, Ohio, and sister-in-law, Carolyn Mack of Defiance. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Dar, son Joseph, and her siblings, James Mack, Paul Mack, and Madonna Hahn. Visitation will be held Monday, December 8, 2025, from 2:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Schaffer Funeral Home South, Lawson-Roessner Chapel (1753 S. Clinton Street) in Defiance. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, December 9th at 11:00 am at St. John Catholic Church, with Fr. David Cirata and Fr. John Stites officiating.
