Hubert Lee Richards, 63, of Montpelier, passed away on Friday, September 8, 2017 at CHP Defiance Area In-patient Hospice Center with his family by his side.

He was born on April 8, 1954 to Boyd  and Eunice (Richards) Canterbury in Logan, WV.  On July 13, 1972 Lee married Deborah Holbrook.  He enjoyed driving truck for 30 years for various trucking companies.  Lee loved spending time with his family especially his grandchildren. .

Lee is survived by his loving wife, Deborah Richards of Montpelier, sons, Clifton Richards of Williams Center, OH, David (Jana) Richards of Edon, and daughter, Melanie (Jamie) Bigger of Defiance, 7 grandchildren, 2 great grandsons, and siblings, Bobby Richards of TX, Kathy (Dean Hamman) Deheus of Edgerton, Donald  Richards of TX, Greg (Julie) Canterbury of TX, Albert "Tim" Canterbury of Defiance, Sheila Wesley of Defiance, Debra (Robert Anderson) Martin of FL, Burl Darby of Williams Center, OH.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Visitation will be held Monday, September 11, 2017 from 6:00 - 8:00 pm at Schaffer Funeral Home, Defiance, where funeral services will be held on Tuesday, September 12, 2017 at 11:00 am with Pastor Burnell Hammons officiating.

Burial will follow at Riverview Memory Gardens.
