Obituary

Hubert S. Hancock, 84, of  Defiance, passed away on Friday, September 30, 2016, at Twin Rivers Center.

He was born on January 13, 1932, to Dale and Katherine (Sprow) Hancock in Defiance.  On June 21, 1957 he married Elta J. Ream.  Hubert was a Truck Driver/Tow Motor Operator and Hot Metal Crane Operator with GM retiring after 35 years of service.

Hubert was a Volunteer Firefighter with Noble Twp, member of AM VETS, VFW, Eagles, Moose and UAW 211.  He enjoyed landscaping, hunting and fishing, hog roasts, bowling, coaching baseball and was an avid fisherman.

Hubert is survived by his daughters, Betty (Dr. Paul) Siler of Defiance and Deb (Tim) Vargo of Defiance, sons, Ried B. "Tyke" (Ruth) Hancock of Leipsic, Loren (Nancy) Hancock of Paulding, Gerald "Jerry" (Chris) Hancock of Oakwood and Ned (Cindy) Hancock of Defiance, Many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and
great-great-grandchildren and brothers, Herald (Mary Ann) Hancock and Steve Steffel.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Elta Jean Hancock and brothers Kenneth, Roger, Ronald and Maynard.

Visitation will be held from 2:00 pm until 8:00 pm on Monday, October 3, 2016.  Funeral service will be on Tuesday, October 4, 2016 at 1:00 pm at Schaffer Funeral Home with Pastor Kevin King officiating.
