Hope M. Doenges, 94, of Continental passed away Friday, February 15, 2019 at CHP Defiance Area Inpatient Hospice Center.

She was born July 17, 1924 to the late Earl and Viola (Brinkman) Demland of New Bavaria, Ohio.  She was a graduate of Holgate High School.

She met her lifetime sweetheart Roger Doenges while he was in the Navy. They were married January 16, 1946.  Roger preceded her in death November 7, 2007.  Also preceding her in death were a brother, sister and son-in-law.

Hope is survived by her brother Melvin (Mary) Demland of Holgate, her children; Sharyl (Dan) Willis of Continental, Dan (Deb) Doenges of Defiance, Kevin (Denise) Doenges of Continental, and Darlene (Doug) Crocker of Defiance. Hope was a proud grandmother to nine grandchildren; Deborah, Deanna, Tim, Michele, Jordan, Justin, Janelle, Colby and Kyle, and nine great-grandchildren with two more on the way.

Hope will be remembered as a devoted wife, mother and grandmother.  She was an avid gardener and seamstress.  Her house, woods and pond were a favorite hangout for her grandchildren.

After Roger retired, they spent many winters in Florida where she enjoyed volunteering for the ministry God's News Behind the News, St. Petersburg.  She was a faithful member of North Mt. Zion Church where she was a pianist for many years.

Visitation for Hope will be from 3-7 pm on Friday, February 22, 2019 at Schaffer Funeral Home in Defiance, and also for one hour prior to the services. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, February 23, 2019 at North Mt. Zion Church in Continental, Ohio.  Burial will follow the service at North Mt. Zion Cemetery.
