Hillard McCloud Sr., age 81 of Defiance, passed away on Sunday evening, June 1, 2025 at his residence. He was born on February 16, 1944 to the late Edgar and Clista (Stollings) McCloud in Harts, West Virginia. On June 28, 1973 he married Virginia R. McCloud who preceded him in death on June 3, 2007. Hillard worked at Campbell's Soup Company in Napoleon for several years until his retirement. He loved talking on his CB Radio and spending time with his family. Hillard is survived by his son, Hillard McCloud Jr. of Defiance, daughter, Jean Mansfield of West Virginia, five grandchildren; Cindy Mansfield, Austin McCloud, Kolton McCloud, Miranda McCloud, and Elizabeth McCloud; and his sister, Vettie McCloud. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Virginia, and several brothers and sisters. Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 5, 2025 from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm and from 3:00 to 6:00 at Schaffer Funeral Home South, Lawson/Roessner Chapel (1753 S. Clinton Street) in Defiance. A funeral service will be held on Friday, June 6th at 11:00 am at the funeral home. Hillard will be laid to rest in Riverside Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to a charity of the donor's choice.
