Hildegarde Meyer, 100, of Defiance, passed away on Friday, October 26, 2018 at CHP Defiance Area Inpatient Hospice Center. She was born on May 9, 1918 to Matthew and Helen (Schuette) Becker in Naomi, Ohio. On June 4, 1937 she married Lawrence W.  "Hap" Meyer, who preceded her in death on May 4, 1977.

Hildegarde was an active member of St. John Lutheran Church in Defiance. She enjoyed her involvement with the Ladies Auxiliary of the Ayersville Volunteer Fire Department. Hildegarde was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. Spending time with her family was her greatest joy, and she will be tenderly remembered by her family and friends. Hildegarde is survived by her son, Larry (Susan) Meyer of Defiance, sister, Edna Nagel of Napoleon, grandsons, Steve (Becky) Meyer of Defiance, Jim Meyer of Columbus, and Bill (Stephanie) Meyer of Defiance, great-grandchildren; Natalie Meyer, Jacob Meyer, and Katie Meyer, and great-great-granddaughter, Paisley Meyer. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Martin Becker and Karl Becker. Visitation will be held from 10:00am until the Funeral Service at 11:00am on Tuesday, October 30, 2018 at St. John Lutheran Church in Defiance, with Rev. Donald L. Luhring officiating.
