Herbie Raines Herbert "Herbie" Lee Raines, 67, of Defiance, passed away suddenly, Saturday, May 27th, 2017 in his home. He was born in Springfield, Ohio on August 28, 1949, he was the son of the late Harley and Dorothy (Claar) Raines. Herbie served in the U.S. Army and retired from General Motors Central Foundry. He was a member of VFW Post #3360. He loved motorcycles, car shows, guns, collecting eagles and model cars. He volunteered at Zion Lutheran's Food Pantry and liked helping people. He always had a joke and loved to talk. On April 6, 1991 he married Laura (Rice) Raines, who survives. Also, surviving are daughters: Ginger (Kevin) Beyer of Defiance, Danielle Raines of Defiance. son: Nicholas (Dejon) Raines of Montana, sister: Ila Earley of Springfield, OH and 3 grandchildren. He is also survived by a nieces Laura (Phil) Shock of Defiance and Angela Raines of Bronson, FL nephews: Roland (Lacey) Maxson of Defiance, Jared Raines, of Defiance, E.J. (Kristal) Raines of Ocala, FL and many great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers: Jerry Raines and Eldon Raines. Services will be at the Lawson-Roessner Funeral Home, at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 1st, with Rev. Tim Reynolds officiating. Visitation is Wednesday 2-8 p.m. at Lawson-Roessner.
