Obituary

Herbert L. Wolf, 81, Sherwood, Ohio, went to join Sharon, his wife of 52 years on January 11, 2013. He was born in Ney, Ohio, the son of Elmer and Hazel (Wagner) Wolf. On May 18, 1953, he married Sharon Cooper who preceded him in death in 2006.  Survivors include a daughter and three sons; Peggy Wolf of Sherwood, Ohio, Michael Wolf, Bryan, Ohio, Brian Wolf, Noble Oklahoma, Larry Wolf, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. He had 7 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, a sister, Irene (Bob) Scantlen, of Ney, Ohio. Preceding him in death were his parents, wife, Sharon Wolf, and a daughter, Laura Wolf, a brother, Larry Wolf, two sisters, Preseida and Denelda Wolf and a great-grandchild, Lillian Poirier-Dixon.

Herb retired after being a  supervisor at Purolator Courier, Defiance for 30 years. He was also an Army veteran from 1948-1951 and 1953-1956 of the Korean War, receiving the Purple Heart and many other medals of honor. He also achieved the rank of Staff Sgt. Herb was a life member of the Sherwood VFW Post. He really enjoyed bowling and fishing and he generously gave to many charities.

Herb was a loving husband, father, and grandfather who loved his family and his bowling buddies.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 11am at the Hanenkrath Clevenger Schaffer Funeral Home, Defiance with the Rev. Bill Mesaeh officiating. Burial will follow at Myers Cemetery with graveside services by the Defiance VFW Post 3366. Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday from 5-8 pm and one hour prior to the services on Thursday. Memorial contributions may be directed to a charity of the donor's choice.  He was loved and will be missed by us.
