Herbert E. "Herbie" Miller, 85, of Ridgeville Corners, passed away on Tuesday, January 8, 2013 at the University of Toledo Medical Center.
He was born on August 5, 1927 to Mary Miller in Defiance County, OH. He married Joan Rupp on June 28, 1952 and she survives. Also surviving him are his son, Brad (Melissa) Miller of Ridgeville Corners, daughters, Sandy (Randy Norden) Buchhop of Ridgeville Corners, Josette (Monte) Nofziger of Archbold, 9 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, and a sister, Mary Kosier of Ridgeville Corners.
He was preceded in death by his mother, daughter, Cindy Brenner, brother, Francis Miller, and 1 grandchild.
Herbert was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church where he served as an usher and was also on the Cemetery Board He was a WWII Navy veteran and was a member of the Ridgeville Corners American Legion and the Ridgeville Corners Ward L. Adams Post 454. Herbie was the owner and operater of Herb Miller Excavating in Ridgeville Corners. He was a member of the Ridgeville Volunteer Fire & Rescue where he served as Co Chief and Assistant Chief. Every morning he opened the 10 Pin Tap where he cooked and served breakfast. He enjoyed collecting model cars..
Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 10 from 6-8 pm, and Friday, January 11, 2013 from 12:00 pm - 8:00 pm at Hanenkrath-Clevenger-Schaffer Funeral Home, Defiance with a Henry County Fire Fighter Memorial Service at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
A mass of Christian burial will be held on Saturday, January 12, 2013, at 10:30 am at St. Michael's Catholic Church with Father Robert Kill officiating.
Burial will take place in St. Michael's Catholic Cemetery.
