Herbert Bansbach, 93, of Defiance, passed away on Tuesday, December 4, 2018 at Brookview Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center in Defiance. He was born on January 25, 1925 to Louis and Cecile (Graves) Bansbach in Toledo, Ohio. Herbert was a 1943 graduate of Bryan High School. He proudly served our country in the U.S. Army during WWII and the Korean War and was a Purple Heart recipient. In 1950  he married Velma (Foley) Bansbach, who preceded him in death on August 10, 2018.

He will be sadly missed by his daughter, Cheryl Bansbach. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Velma Bansbach, son, Steven Bansbach, brothers, Bob, Fred, Glenn, and Wally Bansbach, and half brother, Robert Mitchell. Visitation will be held from 12:00 noon to 1:00 pm on Monday, December 10, 2018 at Schaffer Funeral Home in Defiance. A funeral service with Military Rites accorded by VFW #3360 will follow at 1:00 pm at the funeral home, with Celebrant Deb Miller. Burial will be at Fairview Cemetery in Continental, Ohio. Memorials are suggested to the family, or The Salvation Army.
