Helen G. Smith, 99, of Defiance died at 7:56 PM on Wednesday, June 8, 2022 at Brookview Health Care Center in Defiance, Ohio.

She was born October 10, 1922, in Saybrook, OH. She was the daughter of Lawrence and Effie (Baker) Wheeler. In 1945 she married George H. Smith, who preceded her in death in 2000.

She worked for many years at Arp's Hardware in Defiance, retiring In 1984. She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Defiance for many years.

She is survived by three sons; Larry (Sherry) Smith of Bartlett, TN and David and Ron Smith of Defiance. Also surviving are two granddaughters, Jennifer (Jeff) Zawacki of Oxford, MI and Kristen (Greg) Lendzion of Portage, MI and four great-grandsons.

A private Graveside Service will be held at Riverside Cemetery in Defiance. Schaffer Funeral Home was honored to assist the family with arrangements.
