Helen Watts Garvin, 92, of Sherwood, passed away on  Wednesday, January  31, 2018. Helen was born on November 12, 1925 in Holmes County, Ohio to Bessie (Church) and Charles Workman Watts. She was a graduate of The Ohio State University and a retired elementary school teacher. On September 4, 1953 she married Roy Garvin, Jr., who preceded her in death on October 1, 2000.

She is survived by her children, Dr. W.J. (Teddi) Garvin of Escondido, California, Jane (Mike Bok) Garvin of Sherwood, and Janell Garvin of Atlanta, Georgia. Grandchildren Matt (Alisha) Garvin, Alex (Brooke) Garvin, Andrea Taylor, and Bruce (Christi) Bok, great-grandchildren Hayley and Nathan Garvin, and Lily, Dana, and Ivy Bok. Visitation will be held from 4-7 pm on Tuesday, February 6, 2018 at Schaffer Funeral Home in Defiance. Funeral services will be at Union Grove Church of Christ, 2135 Township Road 2, Killbuck, Ohio on Thursday, February 8, 2018 at 11:00 am, with Rev. Clifford Beck officiating. Visitation will be for one hour prior to services from 10-11 am at the church. Preferred memorials are Sherwood Friends of the Library, or Union Grove Church of Christ.
