Hal Willard Peters, 77, of Defiance, peacefully passed away on Wednesday, December 6, 2017 at CHP Defiance Area Inpatient Hospice Center.
He was born on April 17, 1940 to Duane and Luella (Krause) Peters in Defiance. On January 16, 1960 he married Marie (Miller) Peters, who resides in Defiance. Hal received his Bachelor's Degree from The Ohio State University.
Hal was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church in Defiance, OSU Alumni Association, and his Fraternity, ACACIA. He worked as the Director of Quality Control at LaChoy Foods in Archbold for many years, and he retired from LakeView Farms in Delphos. Hal was a huge fan of The Ohio State Buckeyes, Cleveland Indians, and Cleveland Browns. Hal had the ability to make people laugh and feel at ease. He was a devoted family man, and was very proud of his children and their accomplishments. His smile and laughter will be missed by many.
Hal is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Marie Peters of Defiance, daughters, Kelly (Kirk) Erman of Defiance, and Karin (Robert) Snyder of Bowling Green, OH, son, Philip (Jennifer) Peters of Rocky River, OH, 7 grandchildren: Kacie (John) Kihorany, Joel Erman, Michael (Melissa) Snyder, Matthew (Amanda McConkey) Snyder, Catherine Peters, Audrey Peters, Eric Peters, 6 great-grandchildren, sisters, Jeanine (The Late Bob) Stevens of Defiance, Shirley (Dick) Baldwin of Defiance, and stepbrother, Doug (Beth) Bachman of Defiance.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his stepmother, Bessie Peters, and grandson, Ryan Erman.
Visitation will be held from 2:00 to 8:00 pm on Sunday, December 10, 2017 at Schaffer Funeral Home in Defiance. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm on Monday, December 11th at St. Paul United Methodist Church, with Rev. Clarence Dinnen officiating. Burial will follow the service at Riverside Cemetery.
