Glenn E. Walker, 87, of Defiance, passed away on Wednesday, November 4, 2015 at The Laurels of Defiance. He was born on December 11, 1927 to Weldon and Dorothy (Denhoff) Walker in Clyde, Ohio. On June 10, 1950 he married Mary (Garrett) Walker, who proceeded him in death on November 11, 2011. Glenn was a member of Ayersville United Methodist Church. He graduated from high school in Fostoria, Ohio. Glenn graduated from Bowling Green State University. He received his Masters Degree in Woodwind Instruments from the University of Michigan. Glenn taught as the band director in Ridgeville Corners for 4 years, at Delphos Jefferson High School for one year, and at Ayersville Local Schools for 26 years, retiring in 1982. He was a part time woodwind instructor for the Defiance School Band program for 26 years. Glenn played the clarinet for the Toledo Symphony for 8 years, for the Flint, Michigan Symphony for one year, and for the Lima Symphony for 20 years.. Glenn is survived by his daughters, Barbara (Ted) Molnar of Lafayetteville, Georgia, Lynn (Bill) Davenport of Defiance, sons, Gary (Kathy) Walker of Dayton, and Wes Walker of Guttenberg, New Jersey. Glenn has 8 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Weldon and Dorothy Walker, wife Mary E. Walker, brother Carl Walker, and sister Donna Challen. Visitation will be held from 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm on Monday, November 9, 2015 at Schaffer Funeral Home, Defiance, and from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at the church prior to services. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, November 10, 2015 at Ayersville United Methodist Church, Defiance, with Rev. Clarence Dinnen officiating. Burial will follow at Ayersville Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to Ayersville United Methodist Church, or to a charity of the donor's choice.
