Glenn Richard Siler, 75, passed away on Sunday, July 7, 2013, at the Community Health Professionals Hospice Center of Defiance, with his family by his side.

He was born on January 18, 1938 to Peter D. and Margaret M ( Bodenbender ) Siler in Defiance , Ohio.  On July 2, 1961 he married Jane Caroline Shoup, of Defiance, who survives.

Before retiring, Glenn was a maintenance supervisor for the Northeastern Local School District. Prior to that, he worked for many years in construction and his work can be seen in many places around Defiance County.

Glenn served our country as a member of the United States Air Force. He graduated from Defiance High School in 1956. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of the Eagles, Loyal Order of the Moose, and was a founding member of the Defiance Coin Club.

Glenn is survived by his wife, Jane, of Defiance; daughter, Cheryl (Siler) Silcox of Norwalk; sons Gregory Siler of Defiance and Thomas Siler (Jennifer) of Columbus; and four grandchildren: Lauren and Ben Silcox, and Nicholas and Reagan Siler.  He is also survived by sisters Donna (Don, dec.) Pontius of Tullahoma, TN, Barbara Delaney (Fred) of Defiance, and Sandra Sucher (Barry) of Perrysburg; brother, Paul (Norma Jean, dec.) Siler, of Arthur; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Bill and John Siler; and sisters, Elodie and Anne Steffel.

A private prayer service was held with his immediate family.  Glenn will be laid to rest in Riverside Cemetery in Defiance.
