Glen George Steffel, 69, of Defiance, passed away on  January 2, 2015 at the CHP Defiance Inpatient Hospice Center in Defiance, OH, with his family by his side.

He was born on November 4, 1945 to Gerald and Cecelia (Hesselschwart) Steffel in Defiance. He graduated from Jewell High School in 1963 and proudly served his country, in Germany as part of the Army from 1965-1967. On May 1, 1971 he married Diana Meyer at the St. Stephen's Catholic Church, The Bend. Glen and Diana lived in Defiance, Ohio.

Glen worked for Campbell's Soup Company, retiring in 2011. He also drove for Northwest Motor Sales for 3.5 years. He was a former member of the Jewell Fire Department, Jewell American Legion Post 635, Defiance Eagles 372, a lifetime member of the Defiance K of C 1039 and was a 3rd & 4th Degree of the Bishop Rappe Council, a life member of St. Michaels Ridge Catholic Church, where he served as a lector, Eucharistic Minister, served on the parish council, and was a former festival chairman. Glen was a current board member of Farmers Mutual Telephone Co, Okolona, OH.

Glen is survived by his loving spouse of 43 years Diana, sons, Anthony (Tania) Steffel of Napoleon, OH, Aaron (Dawn) Steffel of Defiance, OH, Charles (Diane) Steffel of Defiance, OH, grandchildren, Andrew, Reilly, & Stacey Steffel, siblings, Rosanne (Gerald) Meyer of Hicksville, OH, Ruth (Larry) Schafer of Defiance, OH, Harold (Sue) Steffel of Defiance, OH, Victor (Rita) Steffel of Defiance, OH, Karen (Dave) Mekus of Defiance, OH, Nick (Maryann) Steffel of Sherwood, OH, Mary (Michael) Willitzer of Defiance, OH, Ed (Denise) Steffel of Defiance, OH, Don Steffel of Defiance, OH, sister-in-law, Betty Steffel of Defiance, OH, brother-in-law, Raymond Slattman of Defiance, OH.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, John & Dennis Steffel, sister, Rita Slattman, and grandsons, Tim & Denny Steffel in infancy.

Visitation will be held Monday, January 5, 2015, 2:00 pm - 8:00 pm at Schaffer Funeral Home, Inc., Defiance, Ohio, with a vigil service being held at 2:00 PM.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, January 6, 2015, 1:00 pm at the St. Michael's Catholic Church, The Ridge, Defiance, Ohio, with Father Robert Kill, officiating.

Burial will take place at St. Isaidore's Catholic Cemetery (The Bend).
