Gerald "Jerry" R Serrick, 77, of Clear Lake, Fremont, Indiana, passed away on Tuesday, September 4, 2018 at The Laurels of Defiance, Ohio following a brief illness. He was born on December 27, 1940 to Robert and June (Mercer) Serrick in Defiance, Ohio.

Jerry was a 1958 Defiance High School graduate and served in the US National Guard from 1963 to 1969.  He was Vice President of Defiance Stamping Co., retiring in 1999.  He was a member of Defiance Elk's BPOE #147 and a Life Member of the Corvette Museum in Bowling Green, Kentucky. Jerry enjoyed everything about lake life at Clear Lake and especially water skiing. Jerry is survived by his sister; Barbara (Thomas) Callan of Defiance; niece, Lisa (Dave) Mueller of Hilliard, Ohio; and nephew, Brian (Amy) Callan of Defiance, Ohio. He also leaves behind his friends that will forever treasure their time with him from attending NASCAR races, talking cars performance or inboard ski boats. He was preceded in death by his parents. Visitation will be held Friday, September 7, 2018, 5:00 pm - 8:00 pm at Schaffer Funeral Home in Defiance. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 8, 2018, 10:30 am at the funeral home, with Celebrant Deb Miller officiating. Entombment will take place in the Riverview Memory Gardens Mausoleum. Memorials are suggested to the Fort Defiance Humane Society or the Defiance Area YMCA.
