Gerald "Jerry" R. Miller, of Defiance, passed away July 30, 2012, at St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center, Toledo, Ohio.

He was born on April 6, 1947, to Donald and Glola (Andrist) Miller in Defiance, Ohio. He married Cheryl Grace on August 30, 1975, and she survives.

Also surviving him are his son, Jerry (Jul) Miller of Defiance, Ohio; daughters, Kelly Ashbacher-Miller of Defiance, Ohio, and Stephanie (Bill) Lammers of Defiance, Ohio; 14 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and a brother, Lynn Miller of Defiance, Ohio.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Donald and Robert Miller.

He attended the First Church of God, Defiance, Ohio, over 40 years where he served as elder and leader. Gerald worked at GM Powertrain for 31 years, retiring in 1992, and was a member of Local 211. He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.

Visitation will be held Thursday, August 2, 2012, from 2-5 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. at the Hanenkrath-Clevenger-Schaffer Funeral Home and Friday, August 3, from 1-2 p.m. at First Church of God, Defiance, Ohio. Funeral services will be held Friday, August 3, 2012, at 2 p.m. at the First Church of God with Pastor Rick Rufenacht, Pastor Larry Kennedy and Pastor Kyle Brownlee officiating.

Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
