Gerald A. Meyer Gerald A. Meyer, age 61, of Ney, Oh , passed away at 3:40 A:M , Sunday, September 28th, 2008 at his home. He was born in Defiance, Ohio on March 8, 1947, he was the son of the late Clarence V. and Dorothy J. (Hetz) Meyer who survives him of Defiance He was a member of St. Isidore Catholic Church - Marysdale. He served in the U.S. Army in Vietnam . Jerry was the husband of Freda (Singer) Meyer. They were married July 8, 1967 and she survives. He worked as a lab technician at General Motors Power Train in Defiance for 40 years, retired in 2005. He was a member of the Defiance VFW, the Am Vets, Knights of Columbus council #1039, Bishop Rappe council 4th degree and the Holy Name Society. He was a Eucharistic minister, chairman of the K of C fish fries and chairman of the K of C Christmas Senior dinner. He was a 1965 graduate of Tinora High School. He loved helping people and never worried about himself. Besides his wife and mother surviving are Daughter: Julie Meyer of Defiance, Son: Jeffrey (Patricia) Meyer of Cecil, Oh. Two Sisters: Sandy (Jim) Adams of Madison, Wis., and Jane (Jeff) Meyer of Sherwood Five Brothers: David (Judy) Meyer of Defiance, Dan (Jean) Meyer of Sylvania, Bill (Marsha) Meyer of Defiance, Philip (Marcia) Meyer of Stryker, Bruce (Kerry) Meyer of Sylvania. He is also survived by 5 grandchildren. Preceded in death by his father, Clarence. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at at St. Isidore Catholic church - Marysdale at 1:00 P:M on Thursday, October 2nd, with Father Dave Tscherne officiating. Friends are invited to call Wednesday 2-9 at Lawson-Roessner Funeral Home where there will be a 7:00 P:M Rosary Service Wednesday night. The 4th Degree Knights will stand honor guard Wednesday night. Interment at Marysdale church cemetery where VFW Post # 3360 will conduct military rites. Suggested memorials are to the Legionaries of Christ or Hospice-The Caring Way of Defiance.
