Gerald Allen "JJ" Mansfield, Jr., age 59 of Defiance, passed away on Wednesday, October 26, 2022 at ProMedica Defiance Regional Hospital. He was born on June 19, 1963 to Gerald and Janice (Yeager) Mansfield in Defiance, Ohio. Jerry was a 1981 graduate of Ayersville High School. On May 31, 2014 he married Kristi (Newberry) Mansfield, who survives. Jerry was a member of Defiance Eagles #372, Elks #147, and Moose Lodge #2094. He worked as a pipefitter for Koester Corp. for 30 years. He was a jack of all trades and an excellent "grill master". He enjoyed fishing, cooking and spending time with his family. Jerry liked helping others and was loved by all. He will be sadly missed by his family and many good friends. Jerry is survived by his loving wife Kristi of Defiance, his father, Gerald A. Mansfield, Sr. of Defiance, his stepdaughter, Mackenzie Newberry of Lima, OH, his sisters; Dawn Hoellrich of Defiance, Denise (John) Dameron of Sterling Heights, MI, Darlene Mansfield of Pierceton, IN, Diana Fett of Defiance, and Deb (Ronald) Leatherman of Defiance, his brother, Shawn (Amanda) Mansfield of Eldersburg, MD, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother, Janice Mansfield, and brother-in-law, Robert Fett. Visitation for friends and family will be held on Monday, October 31, 2022 from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm at Schaffer Funeral Home in Defiance. A Memorial Service will follow at 2:00 pm at the funeral home, with Celebrant Deb Miller officiating. Burial will be at Mansfield Cemetery at a later date. Memorials are suggested to St. Jude's Children's Hospital, or to a charity of the donor's choice.
