Gerald F. "Jerry" Bullinger, age 68 of Napoleon, peacefully passed away surrounded by close family on Wednesday morning, July 24, 2024 at CHP Defiance Area Inpatient Hospice Center. He was born on January 20, 1956 to the late Raymond and Mary (Horstman) Bullinger in Lima, Ohio. Jerry was a 1974 graduate of Paulding High School. On July 5, 1974 he married Joy Dobbelaere, and just recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. Jerry retired in 2017  from Century Link after 42 years of dedicated service. He enjoyed fishing and golfing, and was a huge fan of The Ohio state Buckeyes. Jerry was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. His most cherished moments were spent with his grandchildren, whom he loved and adored. He will be deeply missed by his family and many good friends. Jerry is survived by his loving wife Joy Bullinger of Napoleon, son Jason (fiancé Kadie Eloph) Bullinger, daughter Carrie (Justin) Deatrick, four grandchildren; Jadyn, Hunter, Ava and Charli, his sisters, Diane (Larry) Brown and Sharon Shaffer, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Mary Bullinger. Visitation will be held from 10:00 am to 12:00 noon on Saturday, August 3, 2024 at Schaffer Funeral Home South - Lawson/Roessner Chapel, (1753 S. Clinton Street) in Defiance. A Memorial Service will follow at 12:00 noon at the funeral home, with Deacon Jeff Mayer officiating. Jerry will be laid to rest at Sherman Cemetery.
