Gerald Raymond Daoust, 66, of Bryan, passed away on Thursday, October 23, 2014 at the Community Hospital in Bryan, Ohio.

He was born on June 3, 1948 to Willam  and Maxine (Stoll) Daoust of Defiance .On April 19, 1991 he married Cindy (Singer) Daoust.

Gerald served in  the U.S. Marine Corps during the Vietnam War from 1967-1973. He earned a National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal with bar, Vietnam Service Medal with two stars, and a Navy Achievement Medal with Combat "V".Gerald worked at General Motors for 30 years, retiring in 1999.  He was a member of the VFW Post #3360 in Defiance, UAW #211, Amvets Chapter 1991, Vietman Veterans of America of Defiance, Combat Vet Motocycles Association, and was a Charter Member of the Herman Hesselschwardt Marine Corps League. Gerald loved attending Alex and Ashley's sporting events. He also loved motorcycle riding and Notre Dame football.  .

Gerald is survived by his loving spouse, Cindy Daoust of Bryan, OH, son, Alex J. Daoust  and daughter, Ashley K. Daoust of Bryan, sister, Barb Hasselschwert of Defiance, brothers, Tom (Jill) Daoust of Arizona, David Daoust, and Doug (Therese) Daoust of Defiance, and brother, Bill Daoust, of Alabama.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Maxine Daoust, and brother, Roger Daoust.

Visitation will be held Thursday, October 30, 2014, 9:00 to 11:00 am at Schaffer Funeral Home, Defiance, Ohio.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, October 30, 2014, at the funeral home with Fr. John Stites officiating.

Burial will take place in the Riverside Cemetery.
