Gerald E. Culler Gerald Edward Culler, 77, of Defiance passed away on Wednesday, February 17, 2010 after his battle with cancer. He died in his home surrounded by his family. Gerald was born April 29, 1932 in Paulding, Ohio, the son of the late George and Vera (Feeney) Culler. He married Marie (Youngker) March 29, 1959 who survives. Gerald was employed by Webb Endsley Plastering Contractors until 1963 and Johns Manville until retiring in 1995. He served in the U.S. Army and was a Korean War Veteran. Gerald was a lifetime member of the VFW and was a Quarter Century member. Surviving are three daughters: Rhonda (John) Suydam, Defiance: Reba (Jeff) Smith, Antwerp and Renee Bland,Defiance. He has been blessed with five grandchildren: Cari (George) Sheng, Cincinnati: Nikki Retcher, Liberty Center; Andy, Anthony and Ashlee Smith, Antwerp; two great-grandchildren: Leah Sheng and Hunter Bostelman; and his beloved cat Buddy. He enjoyed fishing, bowling, camping, watching his grandchildren play sports and spending time with family and friends. Also surviving are four sisters; Pauline (Don) Cromley, Defiance; Zora (Jack) Adams; Shirley (Vern) McDougle, Defiance; Marilyn (Jerry) Smith, New Bavaria, and proceeding him in death were his parents and two sisters; Dorothy Shinabery and Marjorie Culler. Services will be 11:00 A:M Saturday, February 20, 2010 at Lawson-Roessner Funeral Home, 1753 S. Clinton St. Defiance with Pastor Bud Larimore officiating. Visitation is from 2-8 P:M Friday and one hour before services on Saturday. Burial will be at Ayersville Cemetery.
