George F. Russell, 69, of Defiance, passed away on Sunday, December 10, 2017 at The Laurels of Defiance.

He was born on July 30, 1948 to Eugene and Eileen (Rayle) Russell in Monroe, Michigan. On July 10, 1971 he married Diane (Gardner) Russell, who resides in Defiance. George was a member of Poplar Ridge Church of the Brethren. He earned his Associate's Degree from Stautzenberger College, and worked at LaChoy Foods and Napoleon Spring in Archbold until his retirement in  2002. He enjoyed spending time with family.

George will be sadly missed by his wife of 46 years, Diane Russell of Defiance, sons, Jason (Michelle) Russell of Defiance, and Matthew (Stacey) Russell of Marshall, MI, four grandchildren: Jacob Russell, Ariana, Isabella, and Zeke Russell, two step-grandchildren, Randy Eaton and Melissa (Raven) Graves, step great-granddaughter, Lily Graves, and brother, Gary (Sharon) Russell of Delta.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, James Russell.

Visitation will be held from 4-8 pm on Thursday, December 14, 2017 at Schaffer Funeral Home in Defiance. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, December 15th at Poplar Ridge Church, 6970 Domersville Road, Defiance, with Rev. Benjamin Polzin officiating. Burial will follow the service at Poplar Ridge Cemetery.
