George R. Masterson, age 71 of Defiance, passed away on Wednesday morning, January 19, 2022 at CHP Defiance Area Inpatient Hospice Center. He was born on September 4, 1950 to the late Richard and Ida (Brown) Masterson in Defiance, Ohio. George was an active and faithful member of St. John's Catholic Church. He was an usher and member of Parish Council. He had the highest honor as 4th Degree Knight with Knights of Columbus and Honor Guard. George was a former co-owner of Masterson's Hardware in Defiance and Findlay for several years until his retirement. George is survived by his brothers, John Masterson of Findlay, OH, Dave Masterson of Warsaw, IN, and Peter Masterson of Defiance. Visitation will be held on Saturday, January 22, 2022 from 9:00 to 10:00 am at Schaffer Funeral Home South, Lawson/Roessner Chapel (1753 S. Clinton Street). Due to CDC guidelines, if you are not fully vaccinated a mask is required to enter the funeral home, and our lounge area will remain closed. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10:00 am at St. John's Catholic Church, with Fr. David Cirata officiating. Burial will follow the service at Riverside Cemetery.
