George Louis Jorkos, Sr., 86, of Defiance, passed away on Thursday, December 1, 2016 at CHP Defiance Area Inpatient Hospice Center in Defiance, Ohio.

He was born on February 14, 1930 to John and Mary (Matese) Jorkos in Johnstown, Pennsylvania. George worked at Bethlehem Steel in Pennsylvania, and he worked at General Motors in Defiance as a journeyman millwright until his retirement in 1992.

George was a lifetime member of Defiance Eagles and UAW. He enjoyed feeding hummingbirds and deer, hunting, and fishing.

George will be greatly missed by his son, George (Shelli)  Jorkos, Jr. of Stryker, daughters, Diane (Jack) Greear of Ayersville,  Linda (Walter) Hanefeld of Continental, Carol (Toby) Sullivan of Continental, Nancy (Neil) Limbaugh of Ayersville, Bobbi (Patrick) Jorkos M.D. -Wright of Midland, Michigan, and Tammi (Monti) Zachrich of Ayersville, 20 grandchildren, and  20 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, son Ronald Louis Jorkos, grandson Michael George Jorkos, three brothers, and three sisters.

Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 7:00 pm on Sunday, December 4, 2016, and from 9:00 am to 11:00 am on Monday, December 5, 2016 at Schaffer Funeral Home in Defiance. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, December 5, 2016 at the funeral home. Burial services will be private.
