Obituary

George Silvis III, 65, of Weston, Ohio passed away Sunday, April 28, 2013, in Hospice of Northwest Ohio, Perrysburg.

He was born in Pennsylvania on August 9, 1947, and was the son of the late George Jr. and Ruth (Koon) Silvis.

George moved to Northwest, Ohio in 1962 and graduated from Perrysburg High School in 1965. He worked 42 years as a pipe fitter for the railroad, where he saw the Pennsylvania Railroad become Penn Central, then Conrail, and once more change to its current name CSX. George was a member of the Phoenix Masonic Lodge in Perrsburg and an avid NASCAR fan. He enjoyed nature and mowing grass and after his retirement, he started his lawn care business. George and Doris liked spending time with family and friends at their camper and driving his red Doberman, Macy, around the campground in his golf cart.

He is survived by his wife of 28 years, Doris (Langford) Silvis; daughters, Jennifer (Scott) Rimer, Jodi (Stan) Orlop all of Perrysburg and Kandi (Rick) Ireland of Weston; 5 grandchildren, Delaney, Sophia, Joseph, Paige and Bryce, and a brother, Bill (Cathy) Silvis of Walbridge, Ohio.

Graveside service will be Thursday, May 2, 2013, at 10:00 a.m. in Riverside Cemetery, Defiance.

Memorial service will follow on Thursday May 2, 2013, at 11am in the Grace Bible Church, 2060 S. Jefferson Ave. Defiance, Ohio with Rev. John McKay officiating.
