Gary D. Siler, age 69 of Defiance, passed away on Tuesday, April 30, 2024 at St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center in Toledo, Ohio. He was born on March 14, 1955 to Cletus and Ethel (Bushong) Siler in Defiance, Ohio. Gary was a 1973 graduate of Defiance High School. On May 27, 1977 he married Christine "Tina" Morris, who survives. Gary was a faithful member of St. John Catholic Church in Defiance. He worked for several years as a driver for UPS until his retirement in 2014. He was a member of Defiance Eagles #372 and Moose Lodge #2094. Gary was an avid fan of The Ohio State Buckeyes. In his leisure time, he enjoyed wood crafting and building things, and river cruising. Gary is survived by his loving wife Tina Siler of Defiance, and three sons; Paul D. Siler of Defiance, Daniel R. (Ashley) Siler of Murfreesboro, TN, and Brian J. (Kristin) Siler of Oakwood, OH. He also leaves behind nine grandchildren; Cassie, Gracien, Trey, Isabelle, Khloe, Tessa, Abigail, Hannah, and Jacob Siler, his brother Richard (Sue) Siler, and brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law; George (Tonie) Morris, Connie (Tom) Haver, Rudy (Julee) Morris, Dave (Bobi) Morris, Mark Wolfrum, Bill Kuckuck, Jenny (Tim) Greear, Janice (Mike) Wolfrum, and Gina (Gannon) Bryant. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his father-in-law George Morris, mother-in-law Berta Morris-Bott, step father-in-law Raymond Bott, grandson Peyton Siler, brother Paul Siler, and sisters-in-law Sarah Wolfrum and Ellen Kuckuck. Visitation will be held on Sunday, May 5, 2024 from 2:00 - 8:00 pm at Schaffer Funeral Home in Defiance, with a Vigil Service at 7:00 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be on Monday, May 6, 2024 at 11:00 am at St. John Catholic Church in Defiance, with Fr. David Cirata officiating. Memorials are suggested to a charity of the donor's choice.
