Gary L. Smith, 61, of Defiance, passed away on Wednesday, January 3, 2018 at his residence.

He was born on January 7, 1956 to Benton and Betty (Brown) Smith in Defiance. Gary worked in the maintenance department for TimCor Corporation for over 40 years. He was a member of Defiance Eagles #372. He liked motorcycles, camping, and spending time with his family. He was always trying to be the world's greatest inventor, and had a great sense of humor. He will be greatly missed by his family and by so many that loved him.

Gary is survived by his five sisters, Kathy Smith of Defiance, Nancy (Rodney) Bechtol of Defiance, Peggy Hill of Huachuca, AZ, Susan (Mike Royal) Smith of Defiance, and Marsha (Michael) Nelson of Malinta, OH, brother, Steve (Dana) Smith of Defiance, and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Brenda Smith, brother, Robert "Snuffy" Smith, brother-in-law, John Hill, and stepson, Donovan Shane Bowden.

Visitation will be held from 9-11 am on Monday, January 8, 2018 at Schaffer Funeral Home in Defiance. A Memorial Service will follow at 11:00 am at Schaffer Funeral Home, with Rev. Tom Powers officiating. Burial will follow the service at Riverside Cemetery.
