Frederick "Fritz" W. Wichman
Frederick "Fritz" W. Wichman, 87, of Defiance, passed away Tuesday, September 25th, 2012 at CHP Defiance Area Inpatient Hospice Center.
Fred was born in Defiance, Ohio on July 24, 1925, he was the son of the late Fred H. and Sophia (Bunke) Wichman.
He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church.
Fred served in the U.S. Air Force in WW II with the 8th Air Force in England. He was a life member of the Defiance VFW, life member of the Eagles, member of the Moose, AMVETS and Brotherhood of Carpenters Union.
He was a construction superintendent at Baker-Schindler for 41 years retiring in 1987.
On Jan. 24, 1948 he married Joann Stork who survives.
Besides his loving wife Joann, of 64 years, surviving are
son: Phil (Janet) Wichman of Vero Beach, Fl.
daughters: Mary Jo (Terry) Calvin of Defiance, Cheryl (James) Smith of Defiance,
He is also survived by 3 grandchildren: Travis (Edith) Wichman, Nichole Wichman and Kellie (Gene) Cole and 4 great grandchildren.
Preceded in death by four brothers: Harold, Ted, Alvin, Richard and four sisters: Emma Smith, Clara Wichman, Luella Hull and Margaret Pracht.
Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 29, at Zion Lutheran Church.
Friends are invited to call Friday 2-8 at Lawson-Roessner Funeral Home and Saturday from 10 -11 at Zion Lutheran Church.
Interment will be in Riverside Cemetery.
In lieu of gifts suggested memorials are to Zion Lutheran Church.
