Frances I. Skiver, 94, of Defiance, went to be with the Lord peacefully with her family by her side at Glenn Park of Defiance Friday, September 20, 2024. She was born January 23, 1930 in Melmore, Ohio to the late Paul E. and Anna May (Bice) Schafer.  After her parents died, she went to live with the late Nelson and Opal Matson. On December 17, 1949 she married Norva E, Skiver, he preceded her in death on September 10, 2017.  Frances worked at Kircher's Flowers in Defiance for 34 years.  She was a member of First Baptist Church, Defiance where she worked in the nursery and AWANAS.  Frances will be remembered for her chocolate chip and sugar cookies.

Frances is survived by her three children Sandy (Steve) McDonald of Jacksonville, FL, Richard (Cindy) Skiver of Defiance, and Terry (Bob) Fry of Toledo, Ohio; five grandchildren Kim Molitor, Heather Warhurst, Krista Schroeder, Michael McDonald, and Lana Gorrell; nine great grandchildren, sisters Ruth Ann Morehouse, and Helen Brown; and special niece Vickie Sweinhagen. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and sister Louise Grimes.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, September 24, 2024, from 6:00 pm till 8:00 pm at Schaffer Funeral Home, South., 1753 South Clinton Street  Defiance, Ohio and one hour prior to the services at the church.  Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, September 25, 2024, 11:00 am at the First Baptist Church, Defiance, Ohio, with Pastor Ron Monteith and Pastor Wayne Altstaetter officiating. Burial will take place in the North Mount Zion Cemetery, Continental. Memorials are suggested to Youth For Christ or CHP Defiance Area Hospice Center.
