Florence J. Gingerich, 88, of Defiance, passed away on Saturday, November 23, 2013 at the CHP Defiance Area Hospice Inpatient Center, Defiance, OH.

She was born on May 8, 1925 to Louis and Leah (Neuhouser) Smead in Grabil, IN. In 1942, she married Burton Furney, who passed away in 1970, in 1971 she married Walter Denver Gingerich, who survives.

Florence was a homemaker, and she was a member of First Church of God, Defiance.

Florence is survived by her loving spouse, Walter Denver Gingerich of Defiance, OH, daughters, Linda Eickmeier of Malinta, OH, Kathy (Omer) Otto of Kokomo, IN, and Bonnie Gingerich of Kokomo, IN, son, Frederic (Karen) Furney of Napoleon, OH, brother, Robert Smead of Harlan, IN, 7 Grandchildren, 10 Great grandchildren, 1 Great great grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her parents, first husband, Burton Furney, son-in-law, Gale Eickmeier, grandson, John Eickmeier, and 9 brothers and sisters.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, November 26, 2013 2:00 pm - 8:00 pm & Wednesday, November 27, 2013 9:30 am - 10:30 am at the First Church of God, Defiance, Ohio.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, November 27, 2013, 10:30 am at the First Church of God, Defiance, Ohio, with Rev. Rick Rufenacht and Rev. Larry Kennedy, officiating.

Burial will take place in the Hoy Cemetery.

Memorials are suggested to the the church's Summit or CHP Defiance Hospice Inpatient Center.
