Florence Janicek, 94, of Defiance, was called home to be with her husband, Louis, on Friday, October 2, 2015 at the Laurels of Defiance.
She was born on September 30, 1921 to Clayton and Hazel (Baum) Miller in Defiance. On June 6, 1942 she married Louis Janicek, who proceeded her in death on March 17, 2007. Florence was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Defiance.
Florence loved being with her family and thoroughly enjoyed her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was a homemaker who canned meats, fruits, and vegetables. She excelled with her baking and cooking talents. Florence's homemade pies, crusts made from scratch, made other pastries pale in comparison. She loved to play card games and was a skilled double deck Euchre player.
Louis and she worked together as a close team on the farm. They had a commercial chicken operation. Many people came to the Janicek's home to buy farm fresh eggs. Florence was the bookkeeper for the business. She kept meticulous records over the years.
Florence is survived by her daughters, Connie (Robert) Warner of Defiance, and Pat Biniker of Perrysburg, Ohio, 4 Grandchildren; Julie Sotelo, Lisa Krill, Jason Biniker, and Amber Biniker, 5 Great-grandchildren; Francesca Wainscott, Britny Krill, and Andrew, Jack and Braden Biniker.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Clayton and Hazel Miller, husband, Louis K. Janicek, son, Daniel Janicek, sisters, Margaret Demland, Dorothy Lantow, and Ruth Haupt, and great-grandson, Robert Wainscott.
Visitation will be held from 3:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Monday, October 5, 2015 at Schaffer Funeral Home, Defiance, with a Vigil Service at 6:00 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, October 6, 2015 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Defiance, with Father John Stites, officiating. Burial will follow at Riverview Memory Gardens Mausoleum.
